Managing who has access to your CSS is done through the Google CSS or Merchant Center interface. Depending on your solution, you will manage users at different levels.
1. General Guidelines #
Before inviting new team members, please keep these core requirements in mind:
-
Google Account Required: Any email address invited must be associated with an existing Google Account. If they don’t have one, they can create it easily at google.com.
-
Invitation Process: Once added, users will receive an automated email from Google with a confirmation link they must click to gain access.
-
Adstrong Admin Access: Important! Never remove users created by adstrong or downgrade their roles. These must remain as Admin to ensure your service and technical support stay active.
2. User Management by Service Type #
For Agency CSS Customers #
You can adjust user rights at both the CSS Group and CSS Domain levels.
-
Best Practice: Since most teams only manage one specific domain, we recommend granting access at the CSS Domain level. This simplifies navigation for your team, as they won’t have to click through the Group level first.
-
How to Change: 1. Navigate to the desired level (Group or Domain).
2. Click the Gear Icon (top right) -> People and Access.
3. Add or remove users and define their specific roles.
For Keyword CSS Customers #
Keyword customers manage users directly within their dedicated MCA.
-
How to Change: 1. Log in to your MCA at merchants.google.com.
2. Click the Gear Icon (top right) -> People and Access.
3. Add/Remove users as needed. Ensure the CSS user role remains as Admin.
3. Understanding Roles #
When adding a user, you will be asked to define a role. For most team members managing campaigns, Admin or Standard access is required to view performance data and manage settings.
